IEDCO Tablet Feeder

Shutting off or valving against pharmaceutical tablets or fragile food products can be a challenge, for fear of damaging the product. Controlling the flow of these products to produce an accurate batch can be even more of a challenge. To deal with this challenge, IEDCO has developed their Universal Tablet Feeder.

Very simply, our valve attaches to the bottom of a hopper or vessel that contains the tablets, via a tri-clamp connection. A ferrule is used to clamp a length of poly tubing, which extends down through a ring. This ring is mounted on a spring-loaded rotary actuator. The valve is spring loaded closed, or with the ring in the vertical position, thereby choking off the flow of tablets through the poly sleeve. When actuated, the ring rotates 90 degrees, permitting the flow of tablets through the ring and the poly sleeve. By controlling the tablet valve with a repeat timer the actuator can be "pulsed" providing very accurate feeding and batch control.

The design provides for the completely safe handling of fragile tablets, candy or other products, as there are no pinch points. It is completely hygienic and the poly sleeve is, of course, disposable.
